Richard Reizen and Eric Sparks, members of Gould & Ratner's Construction Group, recently won a significant victory for a construction contractor, when the Presiding Judge of the Cook County Chancery Division granted summary judgment in favor of our client contractor and dismissed a $2.0 million claim.  Our client had been sued by another contractor claiming a joint venture and therefore a 50% share of profits on a large downtown hotel project.  After conducting targeted written discovery and depositions directed at obtaining an early dismissal, G&R lawyers moved for summary judgment to avoid the expense of completing discovery and a trial.  The Court granted the motion, extinguishing the multi-million dollar claim.
