Chris McCall develops and implements pragmatic and efficient solutions to complex problems while helping clients achieve their business objectives and avoid unnecessary risks.
As a member of Gould & Ratner’s Corporate Practice and the first partner in the firm’s growing Denver office, Chris provides innovative and pragmatic solutions for startups, emerging growth companies, private funds, family offices, and established private businesses.
Chris counsels clients throughout their lifecycle, including on business strategy, entity selection and formation, fund and SPV formation, equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, equity and incentive plans, complex commercial contracting, and intellectual property matters.
Given his substantial experience in the boardroom, in a diverse and multifaceted legal practice, and as the former Chief Legal Officer for a large, emerging growth company with significant domestic and international operations, Chris regularly serves as—and is sought after to provide—outside general counsel representation to companies on an array of issues. As a fractional or outsourced general counsel, he helps implement thoughtful and practical plans to address significant legal issues, ensuring they support—rather than hinder—growth, capital raising, partnerships, joint ventures, and liquidity events.

Chris’ background has provided him with a multifaceted skillset. He started his legal career at an international law firm in Washington, D.C., representing government contractors, technology companies, and healthcare firms in a broad array of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. He then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he practiced commercial litigation at a national litigation boutique and then served as the Chief Legal Officer a large emerging growth company pioneering the way in a new industry. Immediately prior to joining Gould & Ratner, Chris was a partner at a Denver-based law firm.
Chris earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude.
After law school, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Susan G. Braden of the United States Court of Federal Claims.
