A member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice, May represents owners, developers, investors and lenders in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions. He has helped clients acquire, finance and lease various types of commercial properties on a national level, including office, industrial, retail, mixed-use and residential projects. May also has experience advising telecom companies on a variety of matters, including master site agreements, cell site acquisitions, leasing, amendments and risk assessment.

Virginia Harding, of counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, moderated a panel at the 17th Annual Kratovil Conference on Real Estate Law & Practiceon “The Takings Clause Clarified by the U.S. Supreme Court in Lingle v. Chevron: Regulations” on October 1 at UIC John Marshall Law School. “The Kratovil” brings together leading scholars, practitioners and industry professionals to consider cutting-edge issues important to commercial real estate attorneys and their clients. Learn more about this event.

Gould & Ratner sponsored ZCenter’s 5th Annual Taste of the Town Gala on October 29 at the Drake Hotel. Linsey Cohen, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, serves on the organization’s board of directors and also attended the event. With two locations in the Chicago suburbs, ZCenter provides free counseling, medical and court advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault and abuse and their loved ones. Learn more about this event.

Eric Sparks and Vanessa Tiradentes, both members of Gould & Ratner’s Litigation Practice, presented at the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s Trial Advocacy for Civil Litigators Program on October 17. The program will featured demonstrative best practices for jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross examinations and closing arguments from judges and experienced litigators. Mark Leipold, who passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019, was a longtime partner and chair of the Corporate Practice at Gould & Ratner LLP. He was a graduate of Northwestern University (Class of 1982) and DePaul University College of Law (Class of 1986).

Gould & Ratner partners Fred Tannenbaum and Vanessa Tiradentes attended the 2019 LawExchange International Autumn Conference that was held October 11-12 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Conference attendees hailed from 34 law firms across the globe, and the meeting featured presentations focused on leadership development.
