Gould & Ratner is proud to announce that we have been named one of the 2026 “Best Places to Work” by Crain’s Chicago Business, recognizing the firm’s commitment to creating a workplace where attorneys and professional staff can build rewarding, long-term careers.

The honor reflects the culture Gould & Ratner has built around collaboration and mutual respect, as well as the firm’s strong leadership, commitment to professional development, competitive compensation and benefits, and strategic vision for the future.

That culture is reflected in the tenure of many people across the firm. Managing Partner Linsey Cohen, who joined Gould & Ratner more than 17 years ago, told Crain’s that she knew early on that the firm was where she wanted to build her career.

“I wanted to be part of a firm where I could grow my practice,” Cohen said. “I think that’s what attracts people to Gould & Ratner — they sense that culture of connection and long-term career growth.”

That longevity extends across the firm, where many attorneys and professional staff have spent decades at Gould & Ratner. Chief Operating Officer Ken Koehn noted that the average tenure of associates at the firm is more than twice the industry average.

“The key is not just attracting a diverse talent pool but making those hired feel fulfilled so they want to stay,” Koehn told Crain’s. “We work hard to keep people challenged and motivated by giving them opportunities to develop and learn.”

Gould & Ratner’s collaborative culture also gives people opportunities to contribute, work across teams, and forge close relationships.

“We try to include people early in their careers, whether it’s through client engagements or internal meetings,” Koehn said. “People have a voice and an opportunity to contribute, so they don’t feel replaceable or invisible.”

For Cohen, the firm’s culture ultimately comes down to the relationships among its people and the mutual commitment they have to one another.

“We strive to create a collaborative, team-driven environment where people have the support of their colleagues and leaders,” Cohen said. “That’s the reason why people stay, because they see that there is loyalty and dedication, and it goes both ways.”
