Gould & Ratner recently represented 601W Companies in the acquisition of Buckingham Place apartment building in Des Plaines, IL. 601W is one of America’s leading private real estate companies, and the new owners of the long-vacant Old Chicago Main Post Office. 601W’s purchase of Buckingham Place marks the company’s first deal in the Chicago suburbs and first apartment complex in Illinois.

Gould & Ratner recently represented CC Industries in the acquisition of Central Indiana Ethanol (CIE), expanding CC Industries’ portfolio of businesses and introducing a new industry sector for the holding company. Chicago-based CC Industries is the holding company for the Crown Family’s privately-held companies, including: GILLIG, Great Dane Trailers, J.L. Clark, Miracapo Pizza Company, Provisur Technologies, Riverside Rail, Selig, Southern Devall Group and Trail King Industries. CIE is one of the largest producers of grain-based, high quality, specialty alcohols in the U.S.

Gould & Ratner recently provided U.S. legal counsel and oversight of foreign counsel in the acquisition of Manufacture Générale de Joints (MGJ) for Selig Group. Chicago-based Selig Group manufactures container sealing and venting products for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, personal care and industrial applications. MGJ is a France-based manufacturer of foam liners with operations in Canada. MGJ will adopt the Selig Group name, but the business will continue to operate from its primary facility in France.

Fred Tannenbaum, a partner in Gould & Ratner’s Corporate Practice, moderated an America-Israel Chamber of Commerce Taxing Seminar on Dec. 7. Jennifer Tolsky and Ilana Bley, attorneys in Gould & Ratner’s Tax Compliance Practice served as panelists for the program titled, “A Taxing Seminar: What the New Tax Legislation Will Mean For You.” Gould & Ratner also was a seminar sponsor.
