With a unique background as a venture-backed founder and investment associate at two early-stage venture capital funds, Trey Calver brings a holistic perspective to every client interaction.
Trey advises emerging growth companies in a wide array of industries on formation and restructuring, general corporate matters, venture financings and liquidity events. Trey also assists venture capital funds and angel investors with investor-side financings, fund formation and fund maintenance. His experience allows him to identify both risks and opportunities from multiple angles, enabling him to provide strategic, tailored guidance that helps clients navigate the complexities of their business ventures.
Notably, Trey played a key role in the $175M financing of a crypto-focused payments company, bringing together top-tier growth equity and capital investors.
Trey was the first hire at Motivate Ventures in Chicago, which now manages approximately $200M in assets. He also raised capital for a startup while still in college and co-founded a small internet company, which has been serving schools across North America for over eight years. These experiences have deepened Trey’s understanding of the challenges and opportunities entrepreneurs face at every stage of their journey.
Prior to joining Gould & Ratner, Trey was an associate at a Silicon Valley-based firm.
