Gould & Ratner is proud to announce that two of its attorneys, Dean Richardson and Garrett Graff, have been ranked in the 2025 edition of Chambers USA for the category Cannabis Law: Western United States. Dean received a Band 2 ranking and Garrett received a Band 3 ranking—marking continued recognition of the firm’s national leadership in the cannabis and regulated industries sector.

Based in the firm’s Denver office, Dean is a litigator with deep experience handling high-stakes disputes in the cannabis industry and beyond, including shareholder litigation, real estate conflicts and fiduciary duty matters. Since 2021, Chambers USA has recognized Dean as a leading cannabis attorney.

Garrett, also based in Denver, focuses his practice on advising clients in highly regulated industries on complex corporate, regulatory and transactional matters. His extensive regulatory work includes advising stakeholders on cannabis policy, including a gubernatorial appointment on a statewide task force developing a first-of-its-kind regulatory framework concerning intoxicating cannabinoids and the interplay between the marijuana and hemp industries. He has been recognized by Chambers USA since 2023.

“We are proud of Dean and Garrett for once again receiving rankings in Chambers USA,” said Chris McCall, Partner in Charge of the firm’s Denver office. “It reflects not just individual achievement, but the strength of Gould & Ratner’s commitment to helping businesses thrive in regulated and emerging markets.”

Dean and Garrett are both members of Gould & Ratner’s Cannabis and Regulated Industries Practice, which continues to grow and innovate alongside its clients. The firm represents companies across the cannabis, psychedelics, alcohol and other regulated markets, offering a multidisciplinary approach that spans licensing and compliance, corporate structuring, real estate, IP, labor and employment, and litigation. The team has advised state governments, chambers of commerce, and entrepreneurs on emerging industry trends and legal frameworks, and routinely helps clients navigate the evolving patchwork of federal, state, and local regulations.

Chambers and Partners, which publishes Chambers USA, develops its ranking by utilizing a team of over 200 research analysts who assess lawyers and law firms across the USA, conducting thousands of one-on-one interviews per year with in-house counsel and third-party experts. The team identifies and ranks the world’s best lawyers and legal departments according to the criteria most valued by clients: commercial awareness, cross-border capabilities, value and delivery to budget, and client service.
